a new raised bed vegetable garden
One of our winter projects this year was the construction of a new raised bed vegetable garden on an unused section of rock and ground near our existing raspberry trellis's. This section of our garden was always problematic, it had only a poor covering of soil over the granite rock, was waterlogged in winter and baking dry in the summer months. Above the site was a solid rock shelf, below were our raspberry trellis's where the soil level was better, and overshadowed by wattle trees on the north side. A large dead redgum tree on the eastern side threatened to collapse and was cracked all the way to the ground, it dropped branches all the time. old redgum tree removed We cleared the area of rocks, old wattle trees and prepared the levels for our new raised beds.
